Tormented Heart On Fire

Qingcang took one last sorrowful look at Lina dying before him, his heart heavy with the weight of his choices. The portal before him emitted a mysterious hum, growing louder with each passing second but at times silent, allowing the Moon Supreme to hear her faint breathing. The air crackled with electricity, charged with otherworldly energy, swirling around him in a powerful vortex as he took hesitant steps forward. Standing on the brink of returning home, he should have been pleased with the long-awaited freedom within his grasp. However, a sudden wave of doubt washed over him, freezing him in his tracks, contemplating his next move as the portal began to show signs of dissipation, threatening to fade away into nothingness.

In Qingcang’s rough past, when confronted with betrayal, he had been ruthless, sparing no mercy for the offender, regardless of their identity. Yet, in deviation from his previous self, he had chosen to spare her. She remained unharmed by him, not even disturbing a single strand of her hair, although the opportunity to end her life had presented itself.

Now, Qingcang stood at a crossroads, torn between saving his world and his tribe or saving Lina, the woman who had unknowingly crawled under his skin and captured his heart. As the last hope for the survival of the Moon Tribe against the relentless forces of the Fairy Realm, he keenly felt the weight of his responsibility. His dedication to leading his people had intensified during his time in her world, and if he did not act swiftly, his people would perish.

‘What am I doing? There is no time. I have a lot on my plate with my tribe,’ Qingcang pondered, regaining his composure, his face contorted with determination. ‘Why should I care if she still likes Yichen? I’m free from her now, so it no longer matters. I won’t feel her or die alongside her anymore,’ he continued his internal dialogue, desperately clinging to denial as his heart was ripped apart by the decision he had made. Was it indeed the right choice? ‘I’ve already made my decision. I must not look back,’ he resolved, forcing himself to regain his composure.

With a stubborn mindset, Qingcang took another step forward, every fiber of his being determined. Yet, that movement felt like he was treading on a knife’s sharp edge. And then, his worst fear materialized as a sound of silence reached his ears.

He heard what he feared.

Qingcang’s heart sank as he heard Lina’s shallow breathing stop. Time seemed to freeze for the Moon Supreme in that torturous moment, and a heavy lump formed in his throat. Waves of self-hatred crashed over him, threatening to drown his senses. ‘Why am I suffering? Her emotions no longer bind me; even if I were, she lies unconscious now. I have no emotions, so why do I feel like a piece of me is dying?’ he contemplated, his trembling hand instinctively reaching for his chest, feeling the sharp pain that stabbed at his core, his breath becoming shallow, and his knees weakening. “Why does my heart feel so heavy?” he mused.

Qingcang’s hand felt a familiar solid object against his chest, where his heart resided, cradling a cherished memento of their time together. Retrieving the picture, a snapshot frozen in time, displaying their tender embrace at the amusement park, their arms interweaved in a display of affection.

“I don’t need a picture to remember you, too…”

As Qingcang recalled Lina’s words of that moment, the floodgates of memories burst open, engulfing him in a whirlwind of emotions. His hands shook uncontrollably, and his lips quivered as if reliving the moment captured in the photograph. His breathing quickened, and the pain within his heart intensified, a stark realization dawning upon him. This anguish and longing would forever be etched into the depth of his existence, for she had become an unforgettable mark upon his soul. Gently, he placed the picture back inside his robe, pressing it against his troubled heart, vowing to carry it for all eternity.

The portal began dissipating before Qingcang’s eyes, the urgency amplifying the stakes at hand. He needed to depart immediately to aid his tribe and confront the imminent threats of the Fairy Realm. Failure to act quickly could jeopardize his being trapped in Lina’s world forever.

Qingcang quickened his pace toward the vanishing portal with renewed determination and urgency. Each step felt like an immense burden, his breath strained and shallow, until the Moon Supreme stood merely an inch away from the vanishing exit he had anxiously awaited so long. He used to forget to embrace the present with Lina when he could, which he had so often taken this world for granted—taking her for granted.

Qingcang closed his eyes, steeling himself before taking that final, decisive step. With a deep sigh, he reopened his almond-shaped eyes; his tormented gaze fixated downward.

.

“My woman,

My responsibility.”

.

Qingcang’s voice, barely above a whisper when he said it, hung in the air as the weight of those words resonated within the depths of his being. His eyes lifted, turning away from the fading portal. He cast a cold gaze upon the long-awaited exit, allowing it to fade away into oblivion.

‘I don’t know if I’ll ever return to Cangyan Sea,’ Qingcang contemplated, his steps quickening as he raced towards his wife, his determination propelling him forward.

The attic filled with the ominous hum of the dissipating portal, its energy crackling in the air, yet Qingcang paid it no attention.

‘I don’t care if the bond returns.’

The portal exhibited its final moments as Qingcang declared, persistent in its belief, the exit crackling with a mesmerizing dance of electricity, filling the room with its otherworldly glow as it displayed its final moments.

‘Nor do I care if she loves Yichen.’

Qingcang vowed as he finally reached his destination. He stood over Lina as his heart yearned for her safety. He saw her eyes closed, her delicate form lying motionless in a white dress stained with her blood, and her life hanging by a fragile thread. He knelt down, his arms enveloping her upper body with the utmost tenderness, carefully lifting her waist to avoid causing further harm. His gentle hand cupped her chin, his fingertips delicately caressing her soft skin, and traveled to the back of her head, tenderly grasping it as he gazed upon her with tenderness-filled eyes, reminiscent of the way he looked at her as she slept on his lap during that precious moment spent together on the couch.

With one hand securing her waist and the other cradling the back of her head, Qingcang gradually leaned in, drawing his face closer with each passing second. The anticipation hung thick in the air as he heard her faint heartbeat. He could feel the warmth of her velvety breath against his lips as they finally connected, setting aflame a wave of exhilarating energy that coursed through his veins, a delicate exchange of life as their connection kindled a renewed sense of force within him. The taste of her familiar sweetness intoxicated his senses, enveloping him in a moment of bliss, and the beat of his heart hastened.

Qingcang disregarded the potential drain on his life force in that passionate embrace of their lips. When he had turned away from the portal, he had willingly forsaken everything to save her life and make her his responsibility. Although he used to experience a gradual diminishment of his being with each kiss shared, leaving him weakened, this time was different. Surprisingly, the sugariness of the burning energy intensified, compelling him to surrender to the heat of their kiss, his eyes instinctively closing, fully immersed in the depth of their connection.

As the remnants of the former portal dissipated, the electric energy spread throughout the attic, enveloping the couple in its charge. In response to their intimate embrace and passionate kiss, another portal materialized above them, its powerful force pulling them inside.

Qingcang felt a shift in his surroundings, no longer sensing the solidity of the floor beneath him. His lips were still lightly pressed against Lina’s, and he opened his dreamy eyes only to be astonished. They were no longer in her world but within the depths of the portal, a space adorned only by the beauty of stars and the ethereal dance of the aurora borealis.

Qingcang took his time to use the power of the kiss to heal Lina, fully aware that this process would require at least ten minutes to bring her back from the brink of death. With each passing moment, the four metals inside her body gradually slid out, her wounds mended by the power held within their tender connection.

Slowly and with a flutter of her eyelids, Lina opened her eyes, gradually regaining consciousness. As her awareness returned, she struggled to comprehend the shocking scene she had just witnessed: Dongfang Qingcang, the Moon Supreme, was kissing her. A wave of confusion coursed through her mind, rendering her oblivious to the existence of the portal that surrounded them and the beautiful sparkles that accompanied them in this environment.

Their gazes locked in an intense connection, and Lina’s bewildered state prevented her from comprehending how she had managed to survive the treacherous encounter with Jianmin. Yet, at that very moment, an overpowering shock washed over her, shattering her ability to reason.

Qingcang, ever mindful of the dangerous drain the portal posed to Lina, knowing that she had not fully recovered from her wounds, held her gently. His gaze softened as he cradled the back of her head, their lips locked in a tender embrace as he defied all odds to protect her.

At this moment, Lina’s attention was finally drawn to their surroundings within the portal. The realization dawned upon her, but even this astonishing revelation failed to surpass the overwhelming emotions that flooded her being caused by the Moon Supreme. Previously, he was fierce and aggressive, but now he exuded a tenderness that enveloped her, his touch conveying affection and his sweet kisses melting away her defenses.

A whirlwind of thoughts raced through Lina’s mind, punctuated by the rapid pounding of her heart. ‘What… what… what is he doing? Why am I unwilling to pull away?’ she silently questioned as her thoughts were chaotic. She could not resist the allure of Qingcang’s innocent, deer-like eyes that stared back at her with unwavering devotion. This gaze, so familiar to her during their moments of intimacy, was reminiscent of the times they had accidentally kissed, even the first night they met when his demeanor was intimidating and enigmatic. It seemed that with each intimate meeting of their lips, he transformed into a version of himself that had long been forgotten.

Gradually, Lina’s resistance melted away, her body relaxing in the warmth of Qingcang’s embrace. Surrendering herself to the intoxicating moment, she allowed the kiss to unfold, her eyelids gently closing. The sensation of his warm lips against hers enveloped her, releasing euphoria that transported her to a realm of indescribable bliss.

In perfect harmony, their hearts beat as one, and a glorious rosy-red flame flickered from the depths of their beings, engulfing them in a passionate embrace. Within the fiery embrace of their kiss, time seemed to stand still as their primordial spirits intertwined, igniting a passion that burned brighter than any star in the space around them.

Qingcang’s eyes, now at ease, closed once more, savoring the exquisite taste of Lina’s soothing lips. He tenderly brushed his mouth against hers, taking great pleasure in the silkiness of their touch while the rhythm of her breath quickened within their shared space. His hand moved instinctively, caressing the curve of her waist with tenderness, while the thumb of his other hand traced a delicate path through the strands of her long hair.

Lina gently intertwined her delicate fingers with Qingcang’s that rested on her waist, relishing the warmth that enveloped their joined hands. With her free hand, she caressed his face, her touch as soft as a feather, while her thumb brushed against his cheek tenderly. His hand, still firmly holding her waist, pulled her closer, their bodies drawing together in an intimate embrace.

In this fragile moment, Lina and Qingcang succumbed to the sheer intensity of their emotions. The fear of losing each other had been palpable mere minutes ago, and now they refused to take their connection for granted, even if it was just for a fleeting instant. Time seemed to stand still as they embraced the depth of their passion, cherishing the present with a profound sense of gratitude.

Regrettably, the blissful moment was suddenly disrupted when Lina, having fully recovered from their passionate kiss, and Qingcang felt a force tugging at them, seeking to pull them apart.

“Lina!” Qingcang’s voice echoed with anguish and panic as he witnessed her forcefully torn away from his embrace. Desperation and concern etched deep lines on his face, reflecting the raw emotions that surged within him. The rosy-red flame that had enveloped them gradually dissipated as if surrendering to the inevitability of their separation.

Qingcang’s innocent deer-like eyes, momentarily transformed by their profound connection, slowly returned to their usual aloofness, concealing the emotions that had temporarily overwhelmed him.

“Qingcang!” Lina’s voice quivered with an underlying tremor of fear. Tears welled up in her eyes, and her heart pounded in her chest at the mere thought of being separated from the Moon Supreme. The strength of their bond compelled her to resist this separation, to fight against the unknown force that threatened to tear them apart.

Refusing to relinquish his grip on Lina, Qingcang tightened his grasp on her hand as if clinging to their connection with all his might. He could feel the resurfacing of his aggressive nature, the darkness that had once threatened to consume him beginning to creep back into his heart. Yet, before his pure-hearted self faded utterly, he summoned all the tenderness he could muster and assured her, his voice tinged with devotion and determination, “Silly Little Human… I promise you, I will find you.”

Once so strong, their intertwined grip gradually weakened under the relentless force that pulled them apart. Lina and Qingcang could only watch helplessly as their fingers slipped away, their connection severed by a merciless invisible hand of fate.

Qingcang’s eyes widened in shock and despair as the vibrant hues of the pinkish-red flame that had enveloped them dissipated, and his grasp on her slipped away. “Lina!” he cried out, his voice tinged with fear and disbelief, unable to comprehend the cruel twist of destiny that had snatched her away. His voice trembled with anguish as he shouted Lina’s name, the desperation in his voice echoing through the empty space that now separated them. The ache in his heart was unbearable, as if a part of his very being had been torn. Yet, despite his anguish, he could only watch as she drifted farther away, carried by a relentless force into the unknown.

“No… Pretty Eyes, no… No!” Lina’s voice wavered, choked with sorrow and desperation. Tears streamed down her face, mirroring the pain that consumed her from within. The force that gripped her inevitably pulled her toward an abyss, its dark depths of the portal behind her beckoning her like a siren’s call, a gateway to an unknown realm, and she was helplessly swallowed up by its fierce embrace.

Meanwhile, Qingcang was abruptly transported through another portal, propelled by an unknown power. As the disorienting journey ended, he stood again on the desolate battlefield in Cangyan Sea, where he had unleashed his superior strength and mercilessly slaughtered two large armies before entering Lina’s world. The echoes of past violence reverberated through his mind as his once-innocent gaze transformed into cold, aloof eyes, concealing the turmoil within him.

‘I will find her,’ Qingcang vowed silently, his frigid eyes scanning the familiar surroundings with renewed purpose. The darkness within his heart, subdued briefly in their kiss, resurfaced with unsettling intensity, gripping his soul like a vengeful shadow. ‘I’ll kill anyone who dares to hinder me,’ he contemplated maliciously with a chilling resolve, his thoughts veering into a realm of ruthlessness and determination.
