The Genius Strategist

As Lina continued to watch Jianmin standing outside her house through the video intercom, her nervousness intensified, and her heart raced even faster. The last thing she expected was Yichen’s wife to show up unannounced. Her mind immediately went to the possible conflict that could arise, given Jianmin’s and Qingcang’s hatred towards each other. “Pretty Eyes, hide and don’t do anything, and don’t show up until she leaves,” she pleaded commandingly.

‘Not again…’ Qingcang thought as his eyes shot wide open. He sighed deeply as he knew what was happening, significantly irritating him. He was forced to do things against his will because of his boundness to her, and he could not do anything against it. He became invisible by going in black smoke before vanishing from sight.

As Lina opened the door, she was immediately confronted by Jianmin’s punishing tone. “Show me your phone,” she demanded. “I know Yichen is cheating on me with you.” The accusatory tone of the oppressive visitor’s voice sent shivers down her spine, and she could feel her palms getting sweaty. She knew that Yichen was married, and she had never been involved in anything inappropriate with him. She did not deserve to be accused of something she did not do, primarily a homewrecker.

Lina’s heart sank as Jianmin accused her of something she had not done. She could feel her pulse quickening as she struggled to maintain her composure. “What are you talking about? I haven’t had any contact with Yichen since he told me he was getting married,” she said in a shaky voice.

Jianmin’s expression grew even more severe as she commanded, “I don’t believe you. Now, show me your phone.”

Lina hesitated initially but decided to prove her innocence by giving Jianmin her phone. Jianmin snatched the phone from her and quickly reviewed Lina’s messages and call logs. Her stiletto heels tapped impatiently against the marble floor as she scrolled through the phone. After a few moments, Jianmin’s expression softened as she found no communication between Lina and Yichen.

Lina breathed a sigh of relief, but before she could even fully exhale, Jianmin’s expression turned dark. She forcedly threw the phone on the stone floor, crushing the screen. Lina gasped in shock as she watched her phone shatter into pieces.

Jianmin aggressively pushed Lina to the ground, and she landed away from the broken phone. “You might not be cheating with my husband, but your pathetic boyfriend destroyed my phone, so now I destroyed yours,” she spat.

“You’ll never be as worthy as a single strand of my friend’s hair,” Lina said between gritted teeth, and Jianmin felt attacked.

Dongfang Qingcang seethed with rage and desired to kill Jianmin as he observed her actions. If he could move, he would have balled his hands into fists. But he struggled against the obedience bond that prevented him from intervening. His gaze remained fixed on the scene before him as Jianmin persisted with her assault.

Lina could not believe what was happening. She had never been treated this way before. “Besides, you’re the one who wanted to slander me in the first place!” she exclaimed angrily.

Jianmin scoffed in response. “Anyone would have done that to someone famous,” she said casually as she slightly rotated her body towards the door. “Oh yeah, I remember that you used to have a crush on my husband. How does it feel to end up like this?”

Lina felt the tears welling up in her eyes. She could not believe that someone could be so cruel and heartless. ‘You already have him. Why throw salt in my wounds?’ she thought as she gritted her teeth, feeling the anger and frustration boiling inside her. “End up like what?” she asked, her voice trembling with fury.

Qingcang’s dark brows furrowed as he observed Lina’s interaction with the notorious tormentor. He could feel the pain carved in her heart, like a slowly building storm brewing inside her. It was as if every harsh word Jianmin hurled at her was a physical blow, chipping away at her spirit bit by bit. He stood there, frowning, a silent witness to her pain that was building up.

Jianmin sneered and pointed down at Lina. “Like this,” she said. “Pouting on the floor and losing a billionaire’s money to support you,” she asked menacingly and chuckled derogatorily.

Lina could not believe what she was hearing. ‘Billionaire’s money? Why did she mention his family’s status to criticize me? Don’t tell me that she…’ she thought as she was taken aback. “You… you were only after his money the whole time?” she asked, disgusted and shocked. She looked up into Jianmin’s eyes, hoping to find some explanation.

Jianmin responded with a sly smile and belittled Lina even further. “Weren’t you doing the same?” she asked. “Although I must admit, his charming personality also swayed me.”

Lina’s fear of this bully disappeared, and she realized that Jianmin’s two-faced personality had fooled Yichen. She felt angry that this oppressor did not honestly care about her husband.

Lina trembled with rage as she thought about Jianmin’s true colors, ‘What an evil person she is, indeed.’ She clenched her fists, trying to contain her anger. “When I met Yichen, I didn’t even know he was rich. In fact, he kept it from me so I wouldn’t feel unequal to his family’s status. I used to treat him and buy expensive gifts for him because I didn’t know his background! Yet, he was a gentleman who always secretly placed the money I spent in my drawer to pay me back without taking credit. He was more than a crush to me; he was my best friend!” she explained, her voice rising with fury, expressing her deep affection for Yichen.

Qingcang’s eyes focused on the ground as he heard Lina’s confession, and his thoughts started racing. ‘She’s still fond of him,’ he thought, his mind consumed by the disclosure as he stared at the ground, lost in his thoughts.

As Lina spoke, Jianmin’s expression turned from smug to angry, and Lina had had enough of her. In a fit of rage, Lina kicked Jianmin’s high heels, causing them to pop off her feet and lose her balance. Jianmin fell to the stone floor with a loud thud, and Lina could feel her anger boiling over.

“YOU DAMSEL! You broke my expensive shoes!” Jianmin yelled and stood up, her voice aggressive and threatening. “I will break everything in your house.”

Lina was not intimidated by Jianmin’s outburst. “If you do that, my friend who almost broke your arms will finish what he started!” Lina warned, referring to Qingcang. “GET OUT OF MY HOUSE!” she yelled angrily, scowling dangerously at the bully.

Lina’s fierce reaction took Jianmin aback as she had not expected Lina to fight back. She remembered how strong Qingcang was and what he would do to her now that she had aggressively hurt his girl. “You…” Jianmin said with a breathy voice, sneering as she stormed off.

Lina was left alone and hurt on the floor, her hands trembling in stress as she breathed swiftly and heavily. She sat there for a few seconds to process what had just happened, as she knew that this encounter with Jianmin would stay with her for a while. She was unsure how to deal with it even though she knew she had done nothing wrong. ‘Yichen doesn’t love her anymore?’ she wondered in disbelief, almost out of breath as she thought, ‘I can see why… that woman is evil.’

After Jianmin had left the house, Qingcang felt the bond of obedience dissipate, and he knew he could move freely. He immediately made his way to Lina with a concerned expression. He bent over and gently grasped her arms, helping her to stand up. She leaned into his embrace, her heart racing with fear and anxiety from her encounter with Jianmin.

Qingcang’s hands traveled down Lina’s arms to check if she was okay, and he let go of her gently. “Are you still afraid of her?” he asked, his voice laced with concern. He had witnessed her ordeal with the bully and felt every emotion of hers as Jianmin terrorized her. Nevertheless, he was also a little impressed by her ability to stand up against the bully and fight back, unlike the last time she saw Yichen’s wife.

Lina nodded and pouted. “Yes, a little,” she replied softly, feeling vulnerable but relieved that the trial was over.

Qingcang’s expression turned serious. “Since she’s a threat to you,” he said, developing a naughty smirk as he continued, “I’ll kill her for you.” His mind thought of ways to get back at Jianmin, but his smirk indicated that his plans would involve mischief as he thought, ‘Slowly and painfully.’

Lina’s heart skipped a beat at Qingcang’s words as he turned to leave in Jianmin’s direction to obliterate her. She knew he was fiercely protective of her, but she did not want him to take drastic action. She pulled his hand to stop him and said firmly, “No, Pretty Eyes! Can you just stop wanting to cause me trouble?”

Qingcang stopped in his tracks as he was taken aback and paused momentarily, then let out a long sigh. “Forget it,” he said, deep in thought. “As long as you’re happy.” He knew he could not go against her wishes if he wanted to make her joyful.

She looked up at Qingcang and smiled weakly, grateful for his support. She knew he had her best interests at heart but did not want him to assassinate a human. “Thank you,” she said, still holding his hand, wanting to put the situation behind her. “I just want to forget about this.” She closed her eyes and took a deep breath, trying to calm her nerves.

She heard the doorbell. Her teammates arrived at her house right on time. She panicked and looked into the Moon Supreme’s eyes. “Dongfang Qingcang, hide again, don’t do anything, and don’t show up! Just lay low at all times,” she pleadingly commanded him.

‘This Silly Little Human is really enjoying this,’ Qingcang thought, scowling and pissed off at her for commanding him with the boundness, forcing him to obey her unconditionally. He felt an invisible power dragging him down, and his eyes spread wide open. ‘What is happening? Why am I…’ he thought as he turned invisible and dropped to the floor, recalling her sentence of what caused him to lie down.

“Just lay low at all times.”

Dongfang Qingcang, his world’s greatest tyrant, was lying on a carpet, slightly under the coffee table. ‘She turned me into her servant,’ he thought, gritting his teeth in disbelief that he, a powerful being of a royal bloodline, was forced to lie on the floor as he internally screamed, ‘SILLY LITTLE HUMAN!’

Lina smiled and welcomed her teammates to her living room. They settled around her, eager to hear her plan for the upcoming competition.

Suddenly, one of her teammates carelessly kicked Qingcang in the head while heading toward the couch, and the impact escalated his frustration and annoyance. ‘I’ll kill him for this,’ he thought, glaring murderously at the offender.

Lina wasted no time, launching into a detailed explanation of her process. As a genius strategist, she knew that victory was not just about coming up with a plan but also anticipating the moves and being ready to counter any loopholes and leave nothing to chance.

“I studied their gameplay and analyzed their every move, every tactic, and every weakness,” Lina began. “We know their team relies heavily on their tank player. We’ll focus on taking him down early in the game. Once we do that, we can take control of the map and force them into a defensive position.”

Dongfang Qingcang and the teammates listened intently to Lina as she continued to outline the details of her strategy, their faces full of concentration and nodding in agreement as she spoke. And Qingcang’s eyes softened as he finally got a taste of what the Silly Little Human was capable of.

“We need to be prepared for their support player to try and disrupt our plan,” Lina said, her voice firm. “We should have our damage dealers focus on taking them out quickly.” She sighed deeply and continued, “Of course, if they catch on to what we’re doing, they may try to counter with a flanking maneuver,” she warned. “So, don’t make it obvious.”

Lina continued to discuss the finer details of the plan. They talked about timing, positioning, and even the specific moves they would use to take down the enemy team. She also discussed potential loopholes the opposing team could exploit to turn the game in their favor. She had anticipated every move the other team could make and had come up with counter-strategies for each one.

‘This woman is not an amateur; she knows real war tactics and is creative at it… But she’s such a softy and against killing, so why is she…?’ Qingcang thought, confused, as he did not know what video games were.

“You will keep their healer occupied while I take down their main damage dealer. This will give us a great advantage and control. We also need to be aware of their support player, as he tends to provide cover for their tank player. We need to target him next and take him out quickly before he reacts,” Lina said.

A teammate chimed in, “But what if their tank player decides to switch to a damage dealer role and start attacking us from behind?”

Lina smiled and replied, “I’ve analyzed their gameplays and noticed that their tank player rarely switches roles.”

The teammates nodded in agreement, impressed by her attention to detail and the level of preparation she had put into the strategy. They knew the opposing team was tough, but they were confident that her approach would give them the needed edge.

“What if the other team decides to go for a full-on rush attack in the early game?” one of her teammates asked.

She did not hesitate to answer, “In that case, we’ll need to switch to a more defensive strategy and focus on holding our ground until we can take them down individually. We’ll also need to ensure that our team composition can handle their attack without crumbling.”

Lina’s teammates had been taking notes and reviewing their roles. They decided to relax and enjoy some bonding time over energy drinks. As they began chatting, one noticed that she seemed different.

“What happened to you, Lina?” asked one of her teammates, concerned. “We haven’t seen you for two weeks, and you basically turned back into your old self again. You had been so depressed for a few months, and now you’re glowing.”

The question took Lina aback, and she silently watched her four teammates cautiously, unsure how to respond.

Another teammate seemed to sense Lina’s confusion and tried to read her expression. “Don’t tell me…” he said, narrowing his eyes as he tried to piece together the puzzle.

Lina raised an eyebrow, annoyed at her teammates’ audacity. Frustrated by their probing, she demanded, “What?” her irritation and confusion palpable.

Finally, one of the players, a tall, skinny guy with unruly hair, suddenly spoke up. “You’re over Yichen, aren’t you?” he blurted out, his words laced with curiosity and amusement. You used to cry day and night with bloodshot eyes, and now you can’t stop smiling.”

Qingcang’s eyes flickered with interest as he overheard the teammates chatting, observing Lina, and felt intrigued by the conversation.

Lina was caught off guard by the revelation and tried to process her emotions. At the sudden attention, her face flushed a deep shade of red, and she looked away. As she did so, one of her teammates made a cheesy comment: “Maybe she kept smiling because she met her sexy, mysterious, strong man.”

Lina playfully scoffed and said, “Shut up, dude,” with a mixture of annoyance and jest. She was worried that Dongfang Qingcang, her new housemate, would overhear their conversation and embarrass her in front of him.

The boys began to whoop and scream excitedly, making the situation even more awkward for Lina. She frowned, hoping they would stop as she sat uncomfortably in the team meeting, listening to her teammates gossip about her personal life.

One recalled, “Oh, do you remember that she said she wants a domineering and aggressive man who can handle her wild side but is gentle to her when affectionate?”

Lina felt her face turn red with embarrassment. She could not believe that her teammates were discussing her preferences in front of Qingcang, who was invisible and hiding in the room. The irony, they described Dongfang Qingcang without even knowing, and Lina was aware of this now, which made her blush even more.

Could the Moon Supreme, Dongfang Qingcang, be Lina’s type?

A skeptical teammate chimed in, “That’s every girl’s fantasy until they meet one, and then it’s no longer a desire.”

Qingcang’s head was throbbing with confusion. The words spoken around him seemed like gibberish to him. ‘What nonsense are they saying? Why can’t I understand?’ he thought in frustration. He could not understand the emotions behind the words, as he could only comprehend the logical aspect of things, like the domineering part.

Lina felt a knot form in her stomach as the conversation turned even more uncomfortable as one teammate dared to ask her, “So, does it mean you’re no longer… you know…?”

Lina had had enough. She snapped, “SHUT UP! Stop saying nonsense. Just do your homework, practice your assignments, and you little kids will see major results. Understood?” As their captain, she spoke with authority and did not tolerate their stupidity.

The bold teammate realized his mistake and apologized, saying, “I’m… so sorry, captain. Let’s go.”

Lina breathed a sigh of relief as the awkward conversation ended, cautiously watching her teammates leave. She wondered why they were suddenly so interested in her personal life. ‘They never had the nerve to question my innocence and disrespect me so much during our meetings. They also seem to know that I met someone and just wanted to confirm it for themselves. Either Yichen told them about Dongfang Qingcang or his gold digger did,’ she thought, suspecting it was the latter.

The captain’s peaceful morning had been disrupted not once but twice. Lina had been looking forward to spending a good time with Qingcang, but the visitors that had come earlier had drained her positive energy.

Lina sighed deeply, feeling a headache coming on. ‘I need something to cheer me up, or else I’ll go crazy,’ she thought as she glanced at her broken phone. Walking towards it, she muttered, “Speak of the devil… That Jianmin destroyed my phone as revenge for breaking hers, but she was the one who started this.”

As Lina picked up her phone, an unexpected electric shock suddenly surged through her body. She shut her eyes tightly and collapsed, wincing in pain. When she opened her large bedroom eyes again, she expected to find herself lying on the carpet.

But instead…

‘Wh—’

She fell on something familiar and fleshy…

‘Wha—’

Lina was stunned to find herself locking lips with none other than Dongfang Qingcang, the man she had been thinking about earlier. Her eyes widened in shock and disbelief as she realized what was happening.

‘WHAT IS HE DOING HERE?’ she thought, screaming internally as she panicked.
