Qingcang Falling For Lina

As Dongfang Qingcang lay in Lina’s bed, his body enveloped in a deep slumber, but his mind remained partially aware of his surroundings. He felt a sense of unease, as if something was amiss, but he could not entirely focus on what it was. As he tried to move his fingers, he realized he could not move his body. He felt trapped, and despite his efforts, he remained immobilized, unable to wake up fully.

Then, he felt a sudden surge of distress emanating from her, and his eyebrows furrowed in anxiety that he sensed from her. He knew without a doubt that something was wrong, and he desperately tried to move his body, but to no avail. His eyebrows twitched as he felt her distress, but he could not act.

‘It’s that troublesome girl…’ he thought, trying to focus on her heart. He could feel her distress and fear, but was stuck in his sleep and could only vibrate his fingers slightly. ‘She’s in danger.’

Lina’s heart was pounding so loudly that she could feel it in her ears. She ran through the dimly lit streets, her lungs burning with every ragged gasp of air. She could sense the dark energies closing in on her, chasing her relentlessly. She could feel their cold, menacing presence looming closer and closer with every passing moment.

‘What have I done to deserve this?’ Lina thought to herself in despair, her eyes darting around frantically as she searched for a way out. But there was no escape from the powers that pursued her; they were too strong, powerful, and relentless to be outrun.

Lina pushed herself harder, her muscles screaming in protest as she sprinted through the darkened alleys. But it was all in vain. The energies were too much for her to handle, and soon enough, they caught up with her. She stumbled and fell, scraping her knees and palms on the rough ground.

Slowly but surely, the energies began to wear Lina down, draining her strength and willpower. She felt herself surrendering to her inevitable demise, her body and soul giving up in defeat.

“God, please help me,” Lina cried out in desperation, her voice echoing through the empty streets. “Either You alone or through someone capable that You send.”

Dongfang Qingcang was nowhere to be found, stuck in a dream due to their heart bond that made him obey her every command if Lina willed it. However, she did not know what she did to cause this misfortune to herself. The only physical being who could save her was idle, and she was alone.

Lina looked up just in time to see a shadowy figure with glowing eyes and sharp claws advancing toward her. Her heart froze in her chest as the creature grabbed her by the throat, lifting her off the ground effortlessly. She struggled, clawing at its fingers, but it was no use. The monster’s grip was too firm, and she felt her vision starting to fade as she choked. The monster rapidly brought her high into the sky, as high as a skyscraper and beyond.

But the creature only growled in response. “Dead,” it whispered, its cold breath washing over Lina’s face as the clouds’ anomaly strangled her.

Lina’s heart sank at the realization that she was going to die. She closed her eyes, tears streaming down her face, and prepared for the inevitable impact. But then, a desperate hope flared up inside her. “G-God, I have faith… in You…” she called out with all her might in-between breaths. “…t-to… save me… f-from Your… evil creations,” she cried out, her voice raw with fear and pain. The monster’s grip loosened and let her go to fall from an extreme height. The harsh wind blew in her face as she fell, drying her wet eyes.

But Lina did not want to die. ‘This is not the end for me,’ she thought as the world spun around her and the Earth’s surface became visible. For a moment, everything was a blur. The world spun around her, and she saw flashes of green grass, blue sky, and white clouds. She heard the rush of wind in her ears and felt the cool breeze on her skin.

The ground came into focus, and Lina realized she was hurtling towards it at an incredible speed. Closing her eyes, her body began to rotate mid-air, turning her face towards the sky instead of the fast-nearing surface about to crush her bones once she crashlanded. She gritted her teeth, preparing for the impact.

As Lina’s demise seemed inevitable and she approached the ground while still high in the sky, a thick shadow resembling a pair of large wing-shaped auras appeared behind her, causing her to crash land on top of him. It looked as though it was her mystical wings. The shadow adorned her back beautifully, with the top edge perfectly aligned with her arms. Red orbs around her body in beautiful shimmers.

A figure suddenly materialized between the wings, wrapping his arms around Lina tightly as they both fell. She expected to hit the ground in a minute, but instead, she landed on a fleshy surface that felt all too familiar. Strong hands wrapped around her waist, touching her pink lace dress and holding her stomach firmly.

“Silly Little Human…” a low, deep voice whispered in her ears from behind. Lina could feel the warmth of the speaker’s breath on her earlobes as he spoke in a raspy voice that sent chills down her spine. The words were familiar, and she recognized the voice instantly.

Lina was in shock, but she opened her eyes and twisted her head to confirm her suspicion of who the person was. She realized Qingcang had saved her, holding her protectively from behind. She could not believe it was him; her heart was about to burst from her chest as she had never expected him to rescue her, especially since he was tired. But he did not seem tired right now, even a little. It was a miracle that he recovered so quickly that he could get out of bed just in time to save her.

Even though Lina knew it was Dongfang Qingcang, she was still astonished to see him instantly pop up and hold her waist tightly in his powerful arms. It was nighttime, and the full moon shone bright, highlighting his excessively handsome face. She could not take her eyes off him.

It was no wonder he was the Moon Supreme.

“It’s you,” Lina said, her voice shaking with emotion. “You came for me,” she said as a single tear of appreciation rolled down her cheek, grateful for the rare moment and gift from God that allowed her to live. She felt safe in Qingcang’s arms, and the fear she had felt moments ago dissipated. She gazed at him, taking in every detail of his face.

“I told you,” Qingcang said softly, leaning closer to her ear. His low, husky voice sent shivers down her spine. She felt his breath on her skin and closed her eyes as he continued, “You’re mine.” His voice resonated deep within her soul, and she forgot to breathe as she soaked in his deep voice.

Lina let out the breath she held in and responded by moving her head backward, closer to his face. Qingcang slowly rotated her body to face him as they continued to free-fall. Her heart raced as she gazed into his eyes, unable to speak due to anxiety and overwhelming gratitude. The feeling of safety replaced the fear of falling to her death as she felt his arms.

Lina buried her face in Qingcang’s chest, taking in his alluring scent as she held on tight, burying her face in his collarbone. The sound of the wind rushing past them was deafening, but she found solace in his embrace. She murmured, burying her face in his collarbone and her voice barely audible over the roar of the wind, “Dongfang Qingcang… I appreciate you so much.” Her words were sincere, and she needed to say them, even if she thought he would not hear them.

As they fell through the air, the rush of wind and the pressure on their bodies threatened to drown out any sound. But despite the chaotic atmosphere, Qingcang managed to hear every word of Lina’s confession. His eyes flickered with a slight movement as he listened to her heartfelt words. He held her close, their bodies intertwined mid-air, the wind whistling past them. But despite the danger of their situation, she felt safe in his arms.

Qingcang was taken aback by Lina’s genuine appreciation, which he had never experienced. He relaxed and opened his mouth as he saw her bury her face in his collarbone. He could feel her gratitude and relief when she saw him. He was used to people cowering in fear whenever he appeared and avoiding him whenever they could.

But not Lina.

Qingcang could not take his eyes off Lina as he held her firmly so she would not be harmed, his fingertips caressing her pink dress while they descended. She sighed in relief as they landed gently on the ground with a soft thud sound, and thankfully, they both survived.

Qingcang was surprised that Lina did not let go of him as soon as they landed safely. He uncuffed his arms from her back, and she remained lying on top of him, holding him tightly. He asked, slightly impatient, “How long will you hold me?” He felt her plump lips and hot breath on his neck, her heart beating rapidly against his chest. It was a strange sensation, one he was not used to feeling.

Qingcang did not move.

Lina had many questions for Qingcang, but one feeling overwhelmed her: gratitude. Tears formed in her eyes as she realized the gravity of the situation. “It was like a nightmare,” she whispered. “I would have died if not for you.”

Qingcang’s eyes widened slightly.

Lina whispered the words “Pretty Eyes” as she wept, her tears falling like gentle rain onto Qingcang’s throat, making it wet with her sorrow.

Qingcang lay still and unmoving as Lina clung tightly to him. Her emotions forced him to feel everything she felt, and he, too, began crying.

“You don’t know… how scared… I was,” Lina stammered through her sobs.

Qingcang felt Lina’s pain as his own. He closed his eyes as tears streamed down his face and responded in a breathy voice, “I knew…” He held the back of her head to prevent her from seeing him cry, and she appreciated the ‘kind’ gesture, thinking that he was comforting her.

Lina continued to cry, her warm, salty tears soaking into Qingcang’s clothes and making his neck wet. “You don’t know… how happy I am… to see you,” she cried, her voice barely above a whisper.

Qingcang’s heart ached as he heard Lina’s words. “I know,” he whispered, looking past her in the sky. He vividly remembered the first time he saw her scared after being confronted by Yichen and his wife. They were talking on the balcony of the hotel restaurant, and the sky looked starry and vibrant then, just like now. He felt every emotion that she was feeling, the ups and downs of her heart, and it confused him. ‘When will these emotions end?’ He wiped his face as soon as he sensed that he was no longer crying and regained control. “Consider tonight a huge honor for the Silly Little Human; you’re the first person I fell for.”

Lina’s wet eyes widened in shock as she tried to process what Qingcang had just said. ‘Did he just confess his love to me? WHAT? Oh, no! THIS CANNOT HAPPEN!’ she thought, confused and afraid. She sat up, still on top of him, and looked down at his gaze, shocked by his confession. She stood up and stepped back when she realized he was looking at her impatiently. “No! You must not do that! Promise me that you won’t fall for me!” she exclaimed, fear and panic etched on her face. ‘We’re going to part eventually, and I don’t want to hurt his feelings in the end.’

Qingcang stood up gracefully, his black robe rustling around him. Puzzled by Lina’s reaction, he crossed his arms over his chest, his eyes fixed on her, and tilted his head. “Why?”

Lina stepped back, her heart pounding as she looked up at Qingcang. “Because I don’t want to hurt you,” she whispered, feeling the tension between them.

But Qingcang was not so easily deterred. “Hmph. I can take it; I’ve dealt with worse.” He was confident in his strength and did not understand why Lina worried about him. ‘Doesn’t she know how powerful I am? Falling from such a height will not hurt me.’

He completely missed the point.

Lina thought that Qingcang knew precisely what she meant, but she was wrong. ‘He… he fell deeply in love.’ She could not bear the thought of hurting him, leading him on, and ultimately breaking his heart. ‘No, I won’t let him go through the same pain I went through. I’ll friendzone him right now; hopefully, he’ll get it.’ She took a deep breath, reached out to take his hand, and shook it.

Qingcang was caught off guard by Lina’s sudden change in attitude. ‘What is she doing?’ he thought, his eyes narrowing in suspicion as he saw her smile.

“Pretty Eyes, you’re the best friend I’ve ever had,” Lina said, her smile mischievous as she spoke.

Qingcang’s eyes softened, a slight smirk tugging at the corners of his lips as he walked closer to Lina, still having her hold his hand. “You’re so thoughtful,” he responded, playing along with the playful banter between them, and he saw her respond with another fake smile.

With each step Qingcang took toward Lina, she took a step back, her eyes widening as she stumbled. But before she could fall, he was there, his strong arms wrapping around her waist to steady her, avoiding her taking a fall on the grassy field.

Lina’s eyes widened in shock to see Qingcang up close again. She could feel his hot breath on her face, his gaze intense as he looked down at her.

“Clumsy girl, do you think that I don’t know what you’re doing? There is no friendship between us. I’ll repeat: you belong to me. So, no one can stop me if I want to fall. I won’t grant you this promise. Understand?” He thought, ‘Her life is mine.’

Lina was taken aback by Qingcang’s declaration of devotion, and her heart skipped a beat. How he spoke to her and looked at her made her feel cherished and wanted. She almost felt swept up in his sweet words. She had never met a man so dedicated to her, so determined to win her heart with his boldness to destroy her friendzone. She saw him looking at her with predatory eyes, scrutinizing her expressions, and without her knowledge, feeling her thoughts. She swallowed nervously and nodded awkwardly, unaware of what was happening, as she felt his hot breath on her soft lips.

Qingcang lifted Lina slowly, and he was so lost in the moment that he did not even realize that they were still holding hands the whole time. ‘I became absent-minded tonight.’

Qingcang was not the only one who did not notice them holding hands, as Lina’s eyes traveled to where her hand was and saw that she firmly had his hand with their finger intertwined together. A jolt of awareness ran through her as she remembered they first did this when she wanted to save Yichen from Qingcang in the hotel. She held his hand the same way she did now and felt surprised to see him not freeing his hand, almost as if he enjoyed this, or so she perceived it to be.

“I want to go home,” Lina murmured to break the awkward silence after seeing Qingcang eyeing their hands, her voice barely above a whisper. She slowly let go of his hand, feeling a pang of loss as she did so.

“Wait.”

Lina froze, uncertain of what was happening, and blinked.

Qingcang stretched out his arm, and Lina stood there, transfixed, as she observed the blue light swirling around his outstretched hand. The air was heavy with anticipation, and a sense of unease permeated the atmosphere as if she were about to encounter something she was unprepared for. The blue light soared above her head, and her eyes followed its movements. Gradually, the strips of blue light moved downward, revealing many shapes, including squares and computer chip-like objects.

“There they are.” Qingcang paused before adding, “No wonder you keep attracting these dark energies.”

Lina’s heart raced, and she implored Qingcang with her eyes, seeking answers to the mysteries he had uncovered. “What? Why? Please tell me,” she pleaded, locking gazes with him.

“You’re covered in black magic, especially curses,” Qingcang replied, his eyes shifting away from Lina’s stare. He peered deep into her auric field, searching for a way to alleviate the curses that plagued her. Her reaction was not what he anticipated, and he could sense her shock and helplessness as her heart sank. “Calm down. I’ll break them,” he reassured her as he did not want her to succumb to her emotions or cry, and he sensed that she was on the verge of experiencing problematic emotions again.

Lina was overwhelmed with emotion, her heart beating faster than ever before. ‘Who is so cruel to perform black magic?’ she thought as she felt tears prickling at the corners of her eyes, threatening to spill over. She took a deep breath, trying to hold herself together. Even though she was overjoyed, she did not want Qingcang to misunderstand her emotions.

Tonight, two miracles happened for Lina when she prayed to God. One, her life was saved. Two, Qingcang could break the black magic for her. She felt humbled and decided to be alone with God in worship when she got home and thank Him for His mercy and kindness. God did both miracles for her through Qingcang, and she could not help but think that maybe they were fated to meet.

Lina could feel the weight of Qingcang’s gaze on her auric field as he clenched his fist, a look of intense concentration on his face. She watched as the dark energies that had plagued her for so long began to dissipate. She could feel them fleeing from her body as if something was pulling them out, and she became lightheaded.

‘I’m so grateful,’ Lina thought, closing her eyes in relief. ‘Thank you, God, for sending me this man to help me through You.’ As each dark energy left her body, she felt weaker and weaker, panting hard and fast. She was grateful to be rid of them, but the process was draining.

~*~

Meanwhile, Yichen lay on the couch in his living room, the dark beings leaving his body in the same way as Lina. As they departed, his eyes slowly regained their normal state.

“Lina,” Yichen whispered, his voice filled with regret. “What have I done? I shouldn’t even be here.” He sat up, his mind racing as he reflected on his mistakes. “I’ll file for a divorce,” he said, determination in his voice. “This is a mistake. This whole marriage is a big mistake!” He stood up, determined to free himself and return to his true love, Lina.
