Struggling Like A Woman
Qingcang shifted his thoughts to replaying the last sentence Lina said to him before she closed the door behind her, “I was afraid you’d get cold.” Now, he found himself intrigued by her kindness towards him.
But as Qingcang mulled over this, he realized that if Lina knew he was a demon, she would not be so caring towards him. He got this impression when she talked about demons, describing them as ugly and disgusting creatures. A sense of bitterness crept over him, and he gritted his teeth. “I’ll punish her when that time comes,” he muttered under his breath.
Qingcang’s eyes grew as a thought hit him.
‘Why am I so distracted? I have a lot on my plate! I’m supposed to force the Silly Little Human to my bidding, but I keep—’ Qingcang’s thought was interrupted by a rising torment in his belly.
The pain was unlike anything Qingcang had ever experienced before.
“Wha—” Qingcang grunted, his teeth clenching in pain as he suddenly felt an excruciating ache in his abdomen like a thousand swords had been thrust into his belly, and he doubled over in agony. ‘Perhaps, it is that infuriating human—’ he thought as the misery subsided, interrupted in his mind by the forced groan coming from his mouth, showing his teeth out of discomfort. But he was the Moon Supreme, after all, and he would not let himself be brought down by a mere human.
Qingcang felt a sharp stab in his stomach. ‘Strange… I don’t see anyone attacking me. I feel this… pain in my… Tch…’ he thought, gripping his belly tightly. ‘Could it be?’ He raised his eyes. “That Silly Little Human, what did she do?”
Qingcang’s body was wracked with searing pain as if a thousand knives were carving through his flesh, and the unbearable suffering showed no signs of ending. He doubled over, clutching his lower abdomen, his face contorted in agony. Waves of excruciating torment radiated through his body, pulsating with a fiery intensity that left him thinking he would pass out. He tried to take deep breaths, hoping it would ease the discomfort, but every breath he took felt like a knife twisting in his gut, and he could feel his insides being pulled and wrenched with every movement.
“That… Silly Little Human,” Qingcang groaned as he scowled fiercely, gritting his teeth as the pain intensified. He was clearly distressed, his voice strained and trembling.
The sheer force of the pain was enough to make Qingcang moan deeply, his grip on the blanket tightening as he tried to find some relief and used his other hand to hold his stomach more firmly.
“L-Little Human!” Qingcang hissed, his voice barely audible above the sound of his suffering. He prostrated himself on the bed, trying to find a position to ease the agony, but nothing seemed to help. “I’m the Moon Supreme, and I can handle any pai—” he began, but his sentence was cut short by a sharp burst of hurt that left him gasping for air. He spat in frustration, unable to believe that he was brought to his knees by a mere stomach ache. He was proven wrong about handling any pain as the level intensified to another tier, making him fall on his face on Lina’s bed, his body trembling with the force of the agony.
This was just ridiculous.
“I’ll kill that burdensome human!” Qingcang’s anger built as he thought about the source of his suffering. But then he remembered that his life was bound to hers, and the realization hit him like a punch in the gut. “How cruel…” he whispered with bitterness in his voice. “No one in any realm I’ve been to was able to hurt me, yet my livelihood depends on a mere weak human.”
The stomach ache subsided.
Dongfang Qingcang inhaled deeply, a menacing voice lacing his intense breaths, his eyes flashing dangerously. He had to find that pesky human. If this were one of Lina’s tricks, he would punish her severely for trying to play jokes on him. “SILLY LITTLE HUMAN!”

Lina lay on the living room couch, curled up into a ball, tears streaming down her face. Drained from the torture, she thought of all the times she had heard people say that period pain was normal and that she should tough it out. But this was more than just discomfort. She was trapped on the couch, unable to do anything but lie there and suffer. Finally, she felt herself slipping away, the agony and exhaustion too much to bear.
Suddenly, Qingcang burst into the living room and saw Lina writhing in pain on the couch, whimpering and groaning as she held her belly.
Qingcang knelt by her side and gently poked her back, saying, “Hey.” However, Lina was barely aware and did not respond. He sighed impatiently, secretly in distress, and asked, “What did you eat?” When she still did not answer, he furrowed his eyebrows and narrowed his eyes. He slightly opened his mouth and deepened his scowl as his eyes searched left and right, scanning her body to find a clue as to why she was in pain.
“N-nothing… This isn’t from food…” Lina stammered finally, blushing. She thought nervously, ‘Oh God, he probably doesn’t know what having a period is…’
Qingcang continued to scowl at Lina as he asked impatiently, “Then what is it?”
Lina felt her nerves fray and thought, ‘Oh no, I’m screwed.’ However, she forced a faint smile and said, “Nothing. I’m fine,” sweat-dropping with embarrassment.
Qingcang grasped Lina’s shoulder, pulling her towards him, so she was forced to meet his gaze, his eyes narrowed and piercing. “Don’t lie to me, human. I don’t have time for this!” he barked, his tone aggressive and demanding. “Tell me the truth!”
‘Oh no! NO!’ Lina thought and panicked at Qingcang’s sudden confrontation, not wanting him to know anything about her situation. She did not even know if females from the Moon Tribe had a similar cycle. She felt a knot form in her stomach, realizing she was in trouble. She knew that whenever he demanded the truth from her, she was forced to tell him everything in the most direct way possible, without any censorship. “I’m bleeding… internally, and it’s coming… out of my…” she stammered, resisting telling him that word. She prayed for anything to prevent her from telling him the rest.
“You’re injured?” Qingcang interrupted Lina just in time, making her feel relieved. But her relief was short-lived when he demanded, “Show me your wound!”
‘My wound? Does he mean my—’ Lina thought, quickly realizing what Qingcang meant; her eyes widened in shock. She felt a chill run down her spine as she felt weirded out by his request. “Over my dead body!” she exclaimed, refusing to comply.
Qingcang’s eyebrows furrowed in confusion. “I need to see your wound so I can save you. What’s wrong with that?” he naively asked with narrowed eyes. He could not understand why Lina was so secretive about her injury, and her reluctance to show him the source of her pain was illogical.
“I-It’s not a wound!” Lina pleaded with Qingcang to stop asking for more details, but he was unconvinced.
Qingcang gritted his teeth, glaring at Lina. “You’re bleeding, and you tell me you’re unharmed? Show me. NOW!” he exploded, his patience wearing thin. He was not used to dealing with anyone so resistant to his requests.
‘I have to leave! This is so embarrassing!’ Lina thought as she grabbed the armrest of the couch for support to lift herself up. She felt tears prick at the corners of her eyes as she held her stomach and limped, trying to escape Qingcang. She was desperate to avoid showing him anything. “NO! Don’t ask me to show you. It’s very private!” She walked away and shut the living room door behind her.
“You!”
But suddenly, Qingcang staggered backward as another wave of agony hit him, causing him to double over in pain. He gasped for air, feeling the intensity of the suffering sending waves throughout his entire body. His hands shook as he struggled to concentrate on anything else while the ache continued to course through him. Clutching his stomach, he groaned, feeling the discomfort increase to unbearable levels.
“What’s happening to me?” Qingcang blurted out, his voice strained with ache.
With each passing moment, the ache in Qingcang’s stomach worsened, causing him to wince as another wave of stabbing pain shot through his body. He could not comprehend why he was in such excruciating pain. “That girl…” he muttered through gritted teeth.
As the pain slowly subsided, Qingcang took a deep breath and sat straight, exhausted and drained. However, he faced another familiar annoyance he had experienced all too often lately.
Qingcang’s eyes welled up with tears, and he wiped them away with the back of his hand, trying to maintain his composure.
‘This tear…’ Qingcang thought, noticing tears forming in his eyes before continuing to think, ‘That infuriating human… always causing me trouble…’
Qingcang was unsure if he was feeling sadness or extreme anger building up as his tears flowed freely. He was not used to experiencing emotions, and this vulnerability made him feel weak and exposed.
‘What is she… doing?’ Qingcang thought angrily, wondering what the human was doing that made him so emotional.
Qingcang’s tears continued to pour uncontrollably, and he could not help but cry loudly. He felt humiliated and frustrated by the overwhelming emotions overtaking him.
“Was feeling pain not enough? What kind of injury causes this?” Qingcang muttered, his voice hoarse and strained from crying. He could feel the anger burning inside him, fueling his tears and making him feel even more helpless.
Qingcang struggled to collect himself, taking deep breaths and wiping away the tears that continued to spill down his cheeks. He knew that he could not let Lina’s emotions get the best of him, especially not now. But it was impossible not to be affected by her. He had a mission to accomplish, and he could not afford to be distracted by her… burdensome feelings.
Despite his efforts, Qingcang could not help but think about the Silly Little Human who had caused him so much misfortune as he scowled intensely in frustration. She had been a thorn in his side since he first encountered her. She was infuriating, and he could not wait to be free of her. He initially underestimated her, thinking she was just another weak human and easy to control. But she had proven him wrong time and time again, evading his wrath at every turn.
But not anymore.
Qingcang clenched his fist in fury as his thoughts turned dark, considering the ways he could kill Lina once he was finally free from her. He could not afford to let her live; she was too much of a threat to his sanity.
Qingcang knew he needed to get to the bottom of what was happening to him, and he could not allow himself to be weakened by these strange pains and emotions. He took a deep breath and steadied himself, focusing on his mission. He would not let anything, not even Lina’s emotions, stand in his way.
“I’ll find out what’s happening to me, and I won’t let that… that Silly Little Human get in my way.”
Qingcang knew that as the Moon Supreme, nothing would be hard for him, and he was ready to face whatever challenges came his way, including his current situation. He was no stranger to pain, but these strange sensations plaguing him today were different, and they made him feel vulnerable, something he could not afford to be.
Qingcang’s thoughts were interrupted by a sudden outburst of uncontrollable crying. His eyes widened in surprise as he realized the sound was coming from him.
‘On second thought…’ Qingcang took a deep breath before continuing to ramble on like a crybaby, wrecked by his intense screaming and weeping. ‘Maybe later…’
